NERIAH HOWARD

BIO

Ms. Neriah Howard has set her mind on a very comprehensive yet prosperous journey in life! Upon meeting Neriah, we knew she would be a very successful young lady as she was exceptionally goal oriented.  During her tenure at S.P.A., Neriah was named a DANCelebrity in 2013 by the US All Star Federation as well as Super Sensational Dancer by United Spirit Association. These awards are given to driven, passionate and community oriented dancers who go above and beyond the dance floor; they are also amazing leaders within their studio and spend a great deal of time in the community.  The lessons learned, the immense focus on leadership and standards, along with time spent with S.P.A. instructors, would help pave the way for her very bright future as a trailblazer!

After a few years in the S.P.A dance program, Neriah applied to the University of the Pacific in which she was accepted immediately and not only admitted, but received one of the highest scholarships acknowledged in the history of UOP – the Powell Scholarship. The Powell Scholarship is the University’s premier academic and community service merit award, and is designed to cultivate future leaders through mentoring, instruction and service.

After being awarded the Powell Scholarship, Neriah auditioned for and made the University of the Pacific Tiger Dance Team! The Tiger Dancers are an important public relations tool for the University and the Tiger Dancers exude a remarkable amount of enthusiasm and school spirit as they promote the Pacific Athletic program.

In addition to Neriah’s passion for dance and being an honor student, she is exceedingly involved in other activities at UOP. She currently has an internship with the school's Center for Business and Policy Research which focuses on business and economic analysis. Neriah is also a member of the multicultural organization, The Black Student Union Club in which promotes cultural diversity and awareness by offering programs, services and activities that encourage cooperative relations among diverse groups. She is also a member of Pacific Christian Fellowship where she connects with other Christian students through weekly Bible studies. Ms. Howard volunteered for the school’s Dome of Hope Gala in November 2014. She also worked alongside other Powell Scholars to put together an event bringing Ellen Chilemba, a Malawi entrepreneur who was featured in the book, “Humans of New York” to the University to share her wealth and knowledge with the students of UOP. In addition, she is a member of Delta Gamma, a social sorority which focuses on sisterhood and "Doing Good" in the community.

She knows that through all her accomplishments, her greatest passion is the love she has for Jesus Christ, her personal savior, who is to be given the glory for all that has been achieved in and through her life. While she continues to serve the youth at her church, she is humbly reminded to be an inspiration to others she comes in contact with through Jesus Christ who gives her the strength to do ALL things through Him.

Your S.P.A. family commends you on your incredible start to a journey that will help shape the youth and foster community ideals for many years to come!
